Have you eaten at the new restaurant in the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World? We recently dined at Steakhouse 71 for a weekend breakfast. If you’re looking for a great breakfast at an even better value than this is a must visit! Below is a full review of breakfast at Steakhouse 71.

Location

Steakhouse 71 is located within the Contemporary Resort on the same floor as hotel check in. There are many ways to get to the Contemporary. We drove our car and were able to park in the hotel parking lot with our dining reservation.

If you are coming from the parks, you can take the resort monorail to the Contemporary Resort and then take the escalator down to the restaurant. The contemporary is also walkable from Magic Kingdom, however, is not the most favored option, especially after a long day at the park.

The Contemporary resort is a very nice hotel with great proximity to the parks. Did you know the monorail travels through the hotel on its way to Magic Kingdom?

Chef Mickey’s is also located in the Contemporary Resort. It is a buffet and character dining experience where you can meet Chef Mickey and his Sous Chef’s Daisy, Donald, Goofy and Pluto. This is a very popular restaurant experience and I recommend booking a dining reservation as far in advance as possible.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere in this restaurant is unique. Steakhouse 71 opened for the first time in 2021 as part of Disney’s 50th celebration. The theming of this restaurant is 70s nostalgia (hence the name – Steakhouse 71) and it has the décor to match.

When you enter the restaurant, you walk down a long hallway with scattered pictures from Disney in the 70s. We found it interesting to look at the pictures of the monorail, hotels, and parks when they first opened compared to what we see today. You can even see pictures of a “younger” Mickey, Goofy and Pluto!

The dining area of the restaurant gave 70s vibes – especially with the carpet!

Breakfast

We were seated right on time for our reservation at a nice table towards the back. The seating was nicely spaced (you didn’t feel like you were sitting on top of other families) which was surprising compared to some other Disney restaurants.

The menu had quite a few options. I think it was more of a traditional “American” breakfast with items such as omelets, steak and eggs, and the famous Mickey Waffles.

I of course had to begin with a cup of Disney’s signature Joffrey’s coffee. However, they do have an extensive “adult-beverage” menu.

Did you know it is one of the only places at Disney you can get bottomless mimosas?

If orange juice isn’t your preferred mixer, you can sub it for another juice, such as guava or cranberry, at a small up-charge.

Allergies

I have both a gluten and dairy allergy so I was excited to see what options I would have at this restaurant.

When we were seated, the waitress confirmed my allergies with what I had listed on our dining reservation. I was provided with a separate menu that listed all the options based on allergens. They also asked if I would like to speak to the Chef. I have eaten at quite a few Disney restaurants at this point and feel comfortable ordering without speaking to the chef. However, it is very helpful if you have multiple allergies or if you are interested in an option that isn’t listed.

In my experience, they can usually modify something to make you any item of your choice!

Food

We decided to started our Breakfast at Steakhouse 71 with the pastry basket appetizer. For the allergy friendly version of this, we received warmed donuts and muffins. This was a very special treat since not all Disney restaurants have the donuts available! They are typically the Kinnickinnick brand.

For my entrée, I ordered the allergy friendly steak and eggs. This came with a good-sized portion of steak, eggs cooked to order (I got mine scrambled) and breakfast potatoes.

The steak was pretty good, or at least what you would expect from a steak restaurant. However, if I could re-order, I would ask for my eggs over-easy. The scrambled eggs were placed in a mini cast iron holder which was very cute but made the eggs dry out.

The portion size was rather large, and I ended up not being able to finish all the order. A to-go box was needed!

Overview

Overall, our experience at Steakhouse 71 was very good! I highly recommend checking out this 70s themed restaurant during your visit to Disney World. It is a more laid-back option compared to the character dining experiences. The food quality is a notch above the other breakfast options, and it is a great place for a brunch with friends or family!
